Induced pluripotent stem cells, from reprogramming to differentiated product.

Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are reprogrammed from ordinary body cells and can differentiate into almost any cell type. CellAuto automates the whole route, from reprogramming and expansion through directed differentiation to a released product.

Overview

01

What they are

iPSCs are created by reprogramming somatic cells back to a pluripotent state. They provide an essentially unlimited, renewable source of cells that can be directed into many different cell types.

02

Why automate it

iPSC work spans reprogramming, long expansion and directed differentiation, each sensitive to small handling differences. Automation keeps the process consistent across a long, multi-stage run.

03

Where it is used

Disease modelling, drug screening and regenerative medicine, and as a renewable source for differentiated cell therapies such as MSCs and haematopoietic cells.

The automated process

Source materialThe run starts from tissue samples, peripheral blood or similar source material.
Induced reprogrammingSource cells are reprogrammed (dedifferentiated) to a pluripotent state.
iPSC expansionThe iPSCs are expanded under automated control.
Cryopreservation and seed bankExpanded iPSCs are cryopreserved as a seed-cell bank.
Directed differentiationSeed cells are directed into the target cell type, such as MSCs, haematopoietic stem and progenitor cells or other somatic cells.
Passaging and expansionThe differentiated cells are passaged and expanded to the required quantity.
Dispensing and releaseThe product is dispensed in a closed system and released for reinfusion after quality-control testing.

The steps above follow CellAuto’s standard automated iPSC workflow. Reprogramming and differentiation protocols are configured and validated for each specific product and site.

Every transfer between steps is made through a closed, aseptic connection, so the cells stay in a sealed path from start to finish. The exact configuration is agreed during project planning.
