Chimeric antigen receptor T cells, engineered on an automated line.

CAR-T cells are a patient’s own T cells, engineered with a chimeric antigen receptor to target cancer. CellAuto automates the whole preparation, from apheresis through activation, transduction and expansion to a released product.

Overview

01

What they are

CAR-T cells are T cells engineered to carry a chimeric antigen receptor so they recognise and attack cancer cells. They are one of the most important advances in cancer cell therapy.

02

Why automate it

CAR-T manufacturing is a long, multi-step, single-patient process where every batch matters. A closed automated line reduces contamination risk and keeps each patient’s batch consistent.

03

Where it is used

Haematological malignancies such as leukaemia and lymphoma, with solid-tumour applications under active investigation.

The automated process

ApheresisT-cell-containing blood is collected from the patient by apheresis.
PBMC isolationPeripheral blood mononuclear cells are isolated.
T-cell selectionT cells are selected and sorted from the mixture.
ActivationThe selected T cells are activated.
Transduction and expansionThe CAR gene is introduced and the engineered cells are expanded.
Dispensing and formulationThe CAR-T product is formulated and dispensed in a closed system.
Release and reinfusionAfter passing quality-control testing, the product is released for reinfusion.

The steps above follow CellAuto’s standard automated CAR-T workflow. Activation, transduction and release criteria are configured and validated for each specific product and site.

Core platform systems

Every transfer between steps is made through a closed, aseptic connection, so the cells stay in a sealed path from start to finish. The exact configuration is agreed during project planning.
